Mike Gonzalez And The Iconiczz are ushering in a bold new chapter of Tejano music with the radio release of their debut single, “Siempre Te Cuidaré,” impacting stations across the United States and Mexico today, December 2. The track marks the group’s first official release under the legendary Freddie Records label and serves as the lead single from their forthcoming debut album.
Led by Mike Gonzalez—son of iconic 6x Latin Grammy-winning artist Jimmy Gonzalez and former band leader/drummer for Jimmy Gonzalez Y Grupo Mazz—The Iconiczz are committed to honoring one of Tejano’s most influential musical legacies while pushing the genre forward with a fresh, energized sound.
“Siempre Te Cuidaré” embodies exactly that. Written and co-produced by Siggno frontman Jesse Turner, the uptempo cumbia delivers a hook-filled, sing-along chorus and an irresistible dance groove rooted in classic Tejano tradition. The single was recorded at the renowned Legends Sound Studios in Corpus Christi, Texas, with Executive Production by The Martinez Brothers (Freddie Martinez, Jr., John Martinez, and Marc Martinez). Additional production was helmed by Mike Gonzalez, Cris Perales, Mariano Herrera, and Freddie Martinez, Jr. The track was recorded by Mariano Herrera and Eli Molina, and mixed and mastered by Herrera as well.
Fans won’t have to wait long to enjoy the full release. “Siempre Te Cuidaré” will be available on all digital platforms beginning Friday, December 12, offering listeners their first glimpse into one of the most anticipated Tejano albums of the coming year. A music video is also underway and will premiere in December exclusively on YouTube/FreddieRecords TV.
For Mike Gonzalez, the single represents much more than a debut—it is a continuation of a lifelong mission.
“My hope is to produce and release an amazing album just like Jimmy G would do,” Mike shared. “I’ve been waiting to return to Freddie Records — the same studio where my father and I created so many unforgettable hits. Now, I’m here to continue what we started and build something lasting with The Iconiczz. The legacy continues.”
That legacy runs deep. Mike began performing in sixth grade and went on to spend 18 years touring and recording alongside his father, contributing to multiple Latin Grammy-winning and nominated albums for Best Tejano Album. After Jimmy G’s passing in 2018, Mike formed The Iconiczz to preserve and elevate the signature “Jimmy G sound” while infusing it with new-generation passion and originality.
Signed to Freddie Records this past summer, the group is currently in pre-production for their debut album, promising a collection of fresh material rooted in the soulful, melodic style fans associate with Jimmy G — plus a few nostalgic moments longtime listeners will instantly recognize.
