Fortnite is once again making cultural waves, this time by celebrating the power and global impact of música Mexicana. The massively popular video game has officially added “La Chona,” the legendary hit by Los Tucanes de Tijuana, to its Fortnite Festival catalog, becoming available as a Jam Track in the Item Shop on Friday, November 21, 2025.
The announcement came through the official Fortnite Festival social media channels and immediately sparked excitement among gamers and fans of Los Tucanes de Tijuana. The addition marks a milestone moment: one of the most recognizable anthems of regional Mexican music is now part of one of the world’s most influential digital platforms.
With its infectious rhythm, energetic norteño style, and longtime status as a global party favorite, “La Chona” promises to create one of the most fun and viral moments inside Fortnite Festival. Players will be able to perform the song within the rhythm-based mode, developed by Harmonix — the creators of Rock Band — where up to four players can form a virtual band and play guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, or take on vocal parts.
Though no character skin of the group is included, the availability of “La Chona” as a playable track marks another major achievement for Los Tucanes de Tijuana. The group continues to expand its cultural presence, bridging generations of gamers and lovers of regional Mexican music.
Formed in 1987 in Tijuana by lead vocalist and accordionist Mario Quintero Lara, Los Tucanes de Tijuana have become one of the most influential norteño groups of all time. Known for their distinctive accordion-driven sound and storytelling style, they’ve released dozens of albums, earned multiple Latin GRAMMY nominations, and created global hits including “La Chona,” “El Tucanazo,” and “Mundo de Amor.” Their music has transcended borders, making them ambassadors of regional Mexican culture around the world.
This collaboration also reinforces Fortnite’s ongoing commitment to showcasing diverse musical genres and artists from around the world. With “La Chona” now part of its digital universe, the game continues to elevate music that resonates across cultures — and gets everyone dancing.
Fans of both the game and the iconic band are celebrating the moment as a win for regional Mexican representation, proving once again that Los Tucanes de Tijuana’s music transcends borders, platforms, and generations.
