Alicia Villarreal, the unmistakable voice that defined an era of Regional Mexican music, is preparing to wrap up one of the most meaningful journeys of her career. Her “Donde Todo Comenzó 2.0” tour, a sweeping celebration of more than 30 cities across the United States, will come to a close with her two final Texas performances — October 10 in Laredo and October 11 in McAllen.
For Villarreal, affectionately known as “La Güerita Consentida,” these shows mark more than just the end of a tour. They represent a full-circle moment for an artist who burst onto the scene in the 1990s with Grupo Limite, forever changing the landscape of Tejano and Regional Mexican music. Now, three decades later, she stands on stage stronger than ever, her signature vocals carrying the same fire that first captivated audiences.

The tour itself has been described as one of Villarreal’s most ambitious endeavors. A two-hour spectacle of music and emotion, it blends impeccable production with some of the finest musicians in the industry. Fans have been treated to timeless hits from her Grupo Limite days alongside new material from her latest mariachi album, Donde Todo Principio, featuring standout tracks like “Ojo Por Ojo” and “Mejor Que Tú.” And as a special gift for longtime fans, her record label recently released a vinyl edition of Grupo Limite’s debut album Por Puro Amor to honor its 30th anniversary.

But beyond the music, this tour has also been deeply personal for Villarreal. This year has brought challenges, including her highly publicized divorce from musician Cruz Martínez. When Tejano Nation caught up with her backstage, Villarreal was candid about how the tour has given her strength.
“I’m doing very well. It has been a very difficult year, but thanks to nights like these where I feel the love of my fans, I have the strength to keep going and I want to send my regards to all my Tejano fans that I love so much,” Villarreal shared, her voice filled with gratitude.

That connection — the bond between Villarreal and her fans — has been the heartbeat of this tour. Whether in packed arenas or intimate theaters, her audiences have sung every lyric, cheered every note, and reminded her that her music has become the soundtrack of their lives.
As Villarreal prepares to step onto the stages in Laredo and McAllen, South Texas fans will not only witness the final chapter of this historic tour but also celebrate the resilience, artistry, and enduring spirit of an icon who continues to shine.
