Chandler, Arizona — Tejano superstar Bobby Pulido delivered an emotional performance at the Gila River Resorts & Casinos – Wild Horse Pass on Sunday night, marking the final Arizona stop of his Por La Puerta Grande farewell tour. The concert, loaded with nostalgia and heartfelt moments, is part of a celebration for his 30 year music career, which he shares with his father, the legendary Tejano pioneer Roberto Pulido.
The two artists performed together on stage in one of their last joint performances, as the tour that also represents their shared retirement from the stage. The audience — predominantly Latino and spanning multiple generations — responded with standing ovations throughout the evening, as the Pulidos revisited the hits that defined an era in Tejano Music.
One of the most significant moments of the night came during the performance of “Desvelado”, the 1995 hit that catapulted Bobby Pulido to fame. For the first time on a stage, Pulido publicly acknowledged the song’s original composer: George Avena Jr., a gesture that was met with warm applause and emotion from the crowd.
“This song changed my life, and it’s only right to recognize the person who wrote it. Thank you, George, for that gift,” Pulido said to a packed auditorium. The Latin Grammy winner promoted a sit-down conversation with the songwriter on social media that will be premiere soon.
Beyond the musical farewell, the evening also hinted at a new direction for the artist’s career.
The Por La Puerta Grande Tour will continue across various cities in the United States and Mexico. One of the most anticipated dates is the November 28 show at the Arena Theatre in Houston, which promises to be another heartfelt reunion between father and son on stage, before a grand finale over two nights in Monterrey, Mexico, in December.
While this tour closes a musical chapter that touched an entire generation, it also opens a new one. In recent weeks, Bobby Pulido confirmed the formation of an exploratory committee as he considers a possible run for public office in his home state of Texas. Though he has not yet disclosed which position he may seek, he made it clear that his calling for public service is driving this new path — one that reaffirms his commitment to the community that saw him grow both as an artist and a man.
