The influence of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez continues to shine nearly three decades after her passing, as a new viral trend has swept across social media — the Selena Pose Challenge.
The pose, taken from a performance of her 1992 hit “Qué Creías,” captures the late Latin music icon leaning back gracefully on one leg while belting out the song with full passion. The memorable moment, featured in a 1994 broadcast of the music television show Colores De Barrio, shows Selena performing the track from her iconic Entre a Mi Mundo album at a baseball field in Midland, Texas. That same album received its first-ever vinyl release earlier this year, bringing fresh attention to her legacy.
Fans everywhere are now recreating the dramatic stance, filling feeds with their own tributes to the Queen of Cumbia. Rising Tejano star Jenny B, who made waves with her 2024 debut album Mujer Sensual, joined the trend with her own stylish rendition of the pose. She shared the clip with the caption: “So, I hear we’re doing the Selena pose challenge? She was giving drama with that move. Will forever miss that woman.”
Amanda Solis, who released her debut album The Space Vaquera late last year and also performs as a Selena tribute artist, took things to the next level donning the signature purple Selena outfit striking the pose in front of the Selena memorial statue, Mirador de La Flor, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Other fans and artists alike have quickly followed, sharing their own recreations and helping the challenge spread rapidly.
The trend follows hot on the heels of the Nicki Minaj Stiletto Challenge, which also saw several Tejano stars take part last month.
Once again, Selena’s timeless performances prove their staying power — inspiring new generations to celebrate her artistry and unmatched stage presence.
