Corpus Christi, TX — One of the most iconic voices in Tejano and Conjunto music, Linda Escobar, will celebrate an extraordinary milestone — 60 years in music — with a special celebration and concert event on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Sunset Rodeo in Corpus Christi. The 60th Anniversary Celebration and Dance will feature a night of live performances, tributes, and recognition for the woman known affectionately across the industry as “La Reina del Conjunto.” Doors open at 7 PM, and the celebration is free to the public.

Escobar’s groundbreaking career began in 1965, when she recorded her first hit, “Frijolitos Pintos,” at the age of eight — a song she co-wrote with her father, the late Eligio Escobar, a legendary figure in Conjunto music. The single went on to become a gold record, launching a musical journey that would span six decades. For nearly 10 years, Linda and her father toured throughout the United States, Mexico, and Central America, performing together and spreading the roots of Conjunto music across international stages.

Over the years, Escobar has recorded dozens of albumsearned numerous awards, and carved a permanent place in the fabric of Tejano and Conjunto music. Her enduring impact was recognized this year by the Texas Music Office and the Office of the Governor, who will honor her contributions during the August 3 celebration. In honor of the occasion, the Texas State Capitol flew the flag in her name on July 24, 2025 — a fitting tribute to her cultural and artistic legacy.

The night’s entertainment lineup includes performances by:

  • Beto Ramon y Luna Llena
  • Los D-Boyz
  • Conjunto Solis
  • Javier Solis y Los Unikoz
  • JCastillo y Los All-Starz
  • Mando y La Venganza
  • DJ PG in the Mix

In an emotional statement ahead of the event, Linda reflected on her six-decade journey:

“God has blessed me with an incredible journey — and I thank Him for 60 years of living my passion, my love for performing Conjunto and Tejano music. I have lived my life with purpose, joy, and courage! In 1965, I might have just been a 7-year-old little girl from Alice, Texas, but I was already a Conjunto music recording artist and touring. I was part of the Golden Era of Conjunto with my father Eligio Escobar, my godfather Tony De La Rosa, and close family friends: Ruben NaranjoRuben VelaPaulino BernalMingo SaldivarHector Barron y Los FantasmasGilberto Perez, y muchos muchos más!

I vowed to embrace each day as a tribute to the lives they lived and the light they left behind. I always followed that light, through so many sacrifices, because I felt it was my calling. I hope to be a light for our future Conjunto artists — that winners don’t quit!”

In memory of her father and in dedication to veterans, Linda founded the El Veterano Conjunto Festival in 1999. Now in its 24th year, the annual event is held every November in Corpus Christi and benefits the Eligio Escobar Scholarship Fund, which supports young musicians in their pursuit of education and Conjunto music. To date, the festival has awarded 65 scholarships to promising youth.

As Linda Escobar celebrates her 60th anniversary, she remains a living testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and cultural pride. Her story is not just one of success — it’s a legacy that continues to inspire generations of Conjunto and Tejano artists.
