Tejano star Jesse Turner, frontman of the Latin Grammy-winning band Grupo Siggno, is diving deep into raw emotions, musical experimentation, and the group’s Tejano roots with the release of two brand-new singles.
In a recent interview with iHeartRadio, Turner discussed the emotional backstory of the group’s new track “Si Me Ves Cantando”, the surprise country cumbia collaboration “Amarillo By Morning” with Texas country star Aaron Watson, and the band’s return to Freddie Records as part of their 25th anniversary celebration.

A Song from the Heart: “Si Me Ves Cantando”
Turner revealed that “Si Me Ves Cantando” comes from a deeply personal place. “It’s based off real emotions,” he explained. “When we get on stage, we have to smile for everybody. But as soon as we get off, there’s a whirlwind of problems inside the bus, inside my mind, inside my soul.”
The song reflects the contrast between the spotlight and personal struggles. “If you see me singing, don’t think I’m not hurting. Maybe I just haven’t stopped loving you… Between the applause, I can’t forget you. I’m dying to see you again.”
The lyrics channel heartbreak and vulnerability, showing Turner’s commitment to authenticity: “I’ve always written only what I feel and what I’ve lived.”

Tejano Meets Country: “Amarillo By Morning” with Aaron Watson
In a bold crossover, Siggno reimagined the George Strait classic “Amarillo By Morning” as a cumbia, teaming up with country favorite Aaron Watson for the track.
“What started as a joke in the studio turned into something powerful,” Turner said. “I pitched it to a few country artists, and nobody bit. But Omar, a new friend, said his buddy Aaron Watson might be into it. Next thing you know, a few texts later—boom—we made it happen.”
Watson, a native of Amarillo now living in Abilene, loved the idea, and the result has been a genre-blending hit. “It’s opened up different eyes, different venues,” said Turner. “I never thought in 25 years I’d be singing country. But it’s doing great for us.”

“Where Two Worlds Collide” Tour
The collaboration is more than just a single—it’s launching a new tour concept called “Where Two Worlds Collide,” bringing together Tejano and Country fans in a unique fusion of styles. Turner said, “His band and my band—on the same stage. It’s Tejano and Country fused together. We’ve got a couple of ideas for what to do live.”
The show originally scheduled for June 21 in Laredo has been postponed, but the next major date is August 22 at Floore’s Country Store in Helotes, Texas.
A Return to Their Roots with Freddie Records
Siggno has also made a nostalgic return to their original label, Freddie Records, to recapture the classic Siggno sound. “I wanted to bring that back,” Turner shared. “We went back to Freddie Records to redo that.”
“Si Me Ves Cantando” is the first release under the revived partnership, with “Amarillo By Morning” following shortly after. And more is on the way—Turner confirmed a full album is finished, though the title remains under wraps. “We’re going single by single,” he explained. “That’s just the way we do it nowadays. Music is a universal language. It’s therapy.”
Celebrating 25 Years and Looking Ahead
As Siggno celebrates its 25th year in Tejano music, Turner remains reflective but energized. “This is something our genre needs,” he said. “It’s a new journey. I’m excited.”
With honest songwriting, bold collaborations, and a milestone anniversary, Jesse Turner and Siggno are pushing Tejano into new territory, without losing sight of its emotional core.
