That same year, the narrative film Selena, starring Jennifer Lopez, was released and has since become a cultural staple, even earning a spot in the National Film Registry in 2021. More recently, Netflix released a scripted series in 2020, with Christian Serratos taking on the role of Selena, further cementing her enduring legacy in popular culture.
