Texas Latino, a beloved name in the Tejano music industry, continues to celebrate a remarkable milestone of 30 years with the release of their new album, Volumen II (Dos). This album marks a significant moment in the band’s history, showcasing their evolution and dedication to the genre and follow-up to Volumen I (Uno)released last year.

The album features the latest single, “El Amor Que Perdimos,” a reimagined version of a Prince Royce song, transformed into a ranchera. This release follows their previous hit, “Déjame Amarte,” which continues to resonate with fans.

In a recent interview on Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday Podcast during the Vegas Tejano Takeover, Texas Latino’s founder and producer Sevy Contreras shared insights into the band’s journey and the future of Tejano music. He emphasized the importance of embracing new ideas while staying true to the roots of Tejano music. “We have a lot of the cumbia that’s coming in real powerful…we learn, we get a little bit from here, a little bit from there,” he said. He highlighted the contributions of the younger members, stating, “These guys came in and reamped Texas Latino. They got different ideas, young ideas…we need to do more of that, listen to our gut, and keep Tejano, still keep the roots going, and put a little juice here and there.”

Regarding the new album, he explained, “We were going like a different direction on the CD…put a little bit of spices from other things…’El Amor Que Perdimos’, which is our latest release, it’s actually a Prince Royce song…we kind of moved it around and made it a ranchera.”

Lead singer Gabe Rivera also shared his experience working with Contreras, describing it as an amazing journey. “For the past couple of albums that I recorded with Texas Latino, I feel like…it’s about having that personal relationship… he brings that out in me,” Rivera said. He emphasized the importance of chemistry between the artist and producer, stating, “You have to have the chemistry with your producer. They have to relate to you, they got to know your story… this guy knows me more than anybody.”

Volumen II (Dos) is now available on all digital platforms, offering fans a blend of classic Tejano sounds with fresh, innovative twists. Texas Latino continues to inspire and entertain, proving that their music is timeless and ever-evolving.
