Shelly Lares Selected for Episode of ‘Leguizamo Does America’ Docuseries

The life and career of Tejano icon Shelly Lares will be featured in an MSNBC docuseries hosted by actor and comedian John Leguizamo. The production crew of “Leguizamo Does America” recently witnessed a Master Class at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) by Lares, who will begin her second semester as the Artist in Residence at the university. The event will be followed by a close-up interview with “Little Miss Dynamite” about her career spanning over 40 years.

The MSNBC series embarks on a journey across the United States highlighting individuals who are making significant impacts in the fields of culture, art, literature, and the broader American society. Shelly Lares, an important figure in the Tejano music scene, was selected to be part of this series.

“I am so grateful to God for every blessing! I’m honored to be selected by John Leguizamo to be part of his series ‘Leguizamo Does America’,” Lares commented on social media. “He will talk to me about my career and journey and will sit in my ‘Tejano Masterclass’ at UTSA. As the first Artist in Residence at UTSA, I’m so happy to be given the opportunity to talk about my contribution to Tejano music. Stay tuned!”
